This Privacy Policy explains what information Seth Trachtman’s Matchup Notes (“Matchup Notes,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects when you visit matchupnotes.com or subscribe to our newsletter, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the site or subscribing, you agree to the practices described here.

Who We Are

Matchup Notes is a curated newsletter and resource directory covering fantasy football, daily fantasy, sports betting, and football pools. The site is operated by Seth Trachtman, based in Chesterfield, MO, USA. You can reach us any time at [email protected].

Information We Collect

Information you give us

When you subscribe to the newsletter, we collect the email address you provide, and your first name if you choose to share it. If you contact us directly, we receive whatever information you include in that message.

Information collected automatically

When you visit the site, our hosting and email providers automatically collect standard technical data, which may include your IP address, browser type and device information, the pages you view, the site or link that referred you, and the date and time of your visit. Our email platform also records whether you open an email and which links you click, so we can understand which content is useful.

Cookies and similar technologies

The site uses cookies — small text files stored by your browser — to keep the site working properly and to understand how it is used. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though some parts of the site may not function as intended if you do. Google Analytics 4

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • send you the Matchup Notes newsletter and any emails you have asked to receive;
  • personalize the newsletter, such as addressing you by first name;
  • measure which articles and links readers find valuable, so we can improve what we curate;
  • operate, maintain, and secure the website;
  • respond to your questions and feedback; and
  • comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers. Matchup Notes has no affiliate or paid relationship with the sites we link to, and we do not receive payment in exchange for your data.

Third-Party Services We Rely On

We use a small number of trusted providers to run the newsletter and website. Each processes data under its own privacy policy:

  • beehiiv — our email platform, which stores subscriber information and handles delivery and email analytics. See the beehiiv Privacy Policy.
  • Bluehost / WordPress — our website host, which maintains server logs necessary to serve the site. See the Bluehost Privacy Policy.
  • Google Analytics

Links to Other Websites

Matchup Notes is a directory. Much of the site consists of links to third-party fantasy, betting, pool, and data websites that we do not own or control. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those sites. When you follow a link away from matchupnotes.com, the destination site’s own privacy policy and terms govern your visit, including any data it collects. We encourage you to read the privacy policy of any site before providing it with personal information, creating an account, or depositing funds.

Age and Eligibility

Matchup Notes is intended for adults. The site covers sports betting, daily fantasy, and paid contests, which carry their own legal age requirements — generally 21 or older for betting and 18 or older for fantasy contests, depending on your jurisdiction. The newsletter and site are not directed to anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us information, contact us at [email protected] and we will delete it.

Your Choices and Rights

Unsubscribing. Every newsletter includes an unsubscribe link at the bottom. Clicking it stops future emails. You can also email us and we will remove you.

Access, correction, and deletion. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. To make a request, email [email protected]. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.

Residents of California (CCPA/CPRA) and the European Economic Area and United Kingdom (GDPR) have specific rights over their personal data, including the rights described above and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them. We honor these requests regardless of where you live. Because we do not sell personal information, there is nothing to opt out of on that front.

Data Retention

We keep subscriber information for as long as you remain subscribed and for a reasonable period afterward for record-keeping, unless you ask us to delete it sooner. Server logs and analytics data are retained according to our providers’ standard practices.

Security

We rely on established providers — beehiiv and Bluehost — that maintain industry-standard safeguards to protect the information they process on our behalf. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top. Significant changes may also be noted in the newsletter. Your continued use of the site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
